How do I dispute a toll charge that isn't mine?

How to do it, step by step

1. Keep the bill or notice. Do not throw it away — it has the account number, dates, and the deadline for disputing.
2. Check the details: the date, time, place, plate number, and vehicle description. Note exactly what is wrong (wrong plate, car was elsewhere, car already sold).
3. Gather your proof: a receipt, GPS or work record showing where the car was, a bill of sale, or a rental agreement — anything that shows the charge cannot be yours.
4. Write the dispute in the way the toll company asks for (email or their online form). Include: your name, the account or notice number, the date and amount of the charge, the plate number, a short explanation of why it is not yours, and your proof attached.
5. Send it before the deadline printed on the bill, and keep a copy of everything you sent.
6. Write down the dispute or confirmation number you receive, and the date you sent it.
